Southern Praise Quartet Leland,NC Getting to Know Us SOUTHERN PRAISE is a southern gospel quartet dedicated to spreading God’s word thru music. Their motto is taken from Isaiah 6:8--“Here am I, send me.” Southern Praise started as a group in 2004. Their unique sound features musicians from varied backgrounds
Mel Barth:
Mel Barth- Grew up in IL in a home where his father was a music minister & his mother was a drama teacher, Mel was trained to use his rich baritone voice and the trumpet He has travelled across the country as a music & children’s evangelist.
As a two time cancer survivor, Mel has a powerful testimony to help others find healing through Jesus Christ.
Lee Monical-
Lee Monical sings a great tenor,originally from Illinois, he and Mel were friends growing up.Lee has called North Carolina home for 25 years. He and his wife attend Wrightsboro Baptist Church, where he participates in the annual Living Cross presentation, portraying the part of Jesus.
Von Hall
Originally from Greensboro NC is a talented piano player and bass guitarist.He `s a blessing to the quartet not only in playing,but also helping direct the group in performance techniques.
Von has a varied musical background and uses this experience to make us better
Warren Waggett-
Native Wilmingtonian has a rich lead voice that helps create the unique harmony of Southern Praise--and does a great job of singing solo.
Dwight Crainshaw –
Born in Kannapolis,NC--longtime Leland resident,currently lives In Wilmington,NC Dwight’s distinctive bass vocals complete the quartet.
Getting to Know About Our Mission Southern Praise believes that praise is not dictated by style, tempo or even a particular type of music but is given through the heartfelt intent of the worshipper. Our programs include a variety of up-tempo gospel music as well as hymns and slower gospel music. All members of Southern Praise are dedicated to the same cause: spreading the gospel thru song. God has been good to Southern Praise in supplying the needs to further their music ministry. They are especially thankful to the Stalnaker family for their support. We believe that God has called each of us to use our musical abilities and that He will supply opportunities for us to share those gifts.
