In 2010, a vision was formed in the hearts of Rachel and Phillip Marley to start a trio that was more than just a Gospel singing group, they desired to be used by God as a ministry. This group not only offers a rich heritage in music, but also bring joy and a wonderful sense of humor as they proclaim the good news that Jesus is the Savior of the world, the Savior that this world so desperately needs.
On the music page, you will find samples of some of the music they do. However, with the addition of live music, they are able to incorporate a variety of styles to meet the needs of most churches. Music that always lifts up the name of Jesus; that any age group will be able to enjoy and participate in worship... from traditional to southern gospel to praise and worship and mild contemporary... it is ALL to honor the Lord Jesus Christ, the Only One worthy of praise. Their goal is not to entertain you, but to minister and worship with you.
The name "Highway Revival" has a duel meaning. First, it means believers in our Lord Jesus are called to literally take the gospel "on the road"; to travel wherever the Lord leads (into the highways and biways) and share a revival spirit with God`s church... a church that is in desperate need of revival. Secondly, we, as God`s children, are all traveling down the "Holy Highway" towards heaven and are called to encourage each other along the journey.
WHO MAKES UP HR?
The name "Highway Revival" has a duel meaning. First, it means believers in our Lord Jesus are called to literally take the gospel "on the road", to travel wherever the Lord leads and share a revival spirit with God`s church... a church that is in desperate need of revival. The second meaning is God`s children are all traveling down the "Holy Highway" towards heaven and are called to encourage each other along the journey.
Singing Alto with HR is a young lady with an incredible God-given talent to sing and minister in song. Missy Reed is no stranger to Southern Gospel music. Since childhood she has been on stage with her family, on praise teams and as a soloist sharing her gift. Missy has a genuine, sweet personality and voice that connects with her audiences. You will be blown away when you hear her vocals and will join with her in worship of our Lord.
Although she is no longer traveling full time with Highway Revival, Nicole Thomas will continue to sing the alto spot and play the piano on select dates. Nicole has an incredible love for Jesus and desire to testify to God’s amazing grace in a humble and powerful way. Nicole traveled with her father, Harry White and Southern Sound a number of years and is an veteran, accomplished drummer. She not only played for her dad`s group, but also played the drums in the studio on various recordings and also played for groups such as The Anchormen. Before joining Highway Revival, Nicole was a minister of music for ten years and is now currently a minister of music at her home church.
Phillip Marley has been singing gospel music his whole life. As a young boy, Phillip would sing with his brothers while his dad played the piano. He learned harmony by listening to his mom and dad sing the old hymns and learning to read music in the band while playing the trumpet. Through the years he has served as minister of music and choir director in a number of churches. He traveled with The Liberty Boys Quartet for five years as well as Freedom’s Crossing with his wife Rachel. Phillip also serves as the minister and emcee for the group.
Rachel Marley grew up singing in church, and has a beautiful, sweet voice as she sings the lead. With her extensive musical background, she can also sing the alto and tenor parts when needed. Rachel competed in many choral and vocal competitions and garnered numerous awards and superior ratings, and has been called on to open up for some of the industries leading groups. In fact, many who attend Highway Revival concerts agree that Rachel`s vocal ability rivals top southern gospel and contemporary names.
For those who may not know, Rachel is the daughter of professional wrestler Ivan Koloff, the Russian Bear. Ivan gave his life to Christ in 1995. In February 2017, Ivan went home to be with Jesus, whom he loved with all his heart. We miss him so much. You can find his website at www.ivankoloff.com.
