The Original Rivermen Quartet began in March of 2002.  The Rivermen always present a program of uplifting gospel music in the 5 state region of Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, Tennessee and Kentucky.  In early 2008 the quartet regrouped with one original member and three new members.  The quartet is known for the joy they express when they sing about the Lord. A Rivermen concert includes a blend of traditional favorites, singing convention songs, praise and worship ballads, and songs that encourage the listener.

The Rivermen are celebrating 6 years in gospel music and in that time they have performed over 400 concerts, recorded 7 CDs and have appeared at gospel music events such as the Southern Gospel Picnic in Silver Dollar City and the Promise Keepers of the Heartland Rally.

The Rivermen are also known for promoting gospel concerts in Southeast Missouri.  Their anniversary concert, held each year in Malden, Mo is one of the largest attended gospel events in the region.  Professional artists such as The Dove Brothers, The Talley Trio, Legacy Five, The Perrys, The Florida Boys, and The McKameys are just a few of the groups that have appeared at the annual event.  The Rivermen have also taken on the task of hosting and sponsoring the Annual Missouri State Singing Convention.  In 2008 Seven Hundred people packed the Malden Community Center to listen to 13 groups, from all over the state of Missouri, praise God with their music.  In 2009 the 79th annual Missouri State Singing Convention will be a two day event and promises to be even bigger than 2008.

The Rivermen will celebrate their 7th anniversary in gospel music on October 24th, 2009 at the Malden Community Center. The concert will feature Ivan Parker and The Lesters.

The Rivermen perform over 70 concerts each year and are excited about the opportunity to sing and bring a positive message of faith in Christ through music. They are available for Sunday evening services, homecomings, and special occasions. There is no charge to book the Rivermen unless the distance of traveling requires additional expenses.

The Rivermen are committed to their local church and their families, so the group is limited on the number of Sunday morning services they book and are only available for 2 weekends out of each month. Call the quartet today to book for late 2008 or 2009.

Members of the group are Doug Thornton, baritone; Julie Rice, tenor; Jeff Harris, lead; and Michael Thacker, bass.
