I grew up in the very small town of Frostproof, Florida and I currently live there with my 12 year old son, Jared. At a very young age, I attended many gospel sings with my family. I became interested in Gospel Music and playing the drums. Being blessed with my own set of drums at age 7, I began teaching myself to play. At age 10, I felt God`s calling on my life and began to play the drums during our church services. I continued to play the drums until I graduated from Frostproof Junior- Senior High in 1991.
After graduation, I continued my interest in Gospel Music as well as using my abilities to Glorify God and lead others to him. In 1992, I was blessed to join Eternal Love and Praise from Winter Haven, Fl. We held a praise and worship service every Saturday Night at a local church. I continued with them until 1993, when I took a short time off. Growing up with Southern Gospel, it was always my passion. In 1994, I was contacted by Bill Long of the Floridians to try out for their group to play the drums. I continued traveling with them until 1998. During this time of ministry, I also joined the Caloosa Lake Volunteer Fire Department and remained with them from 1994-2000. I have always had a love for ministering to others. In 1998, I was approached by Ron Benton and Deby Trissel about becoming a founding member of a gospel group. After much prayer, we started the group, Southern Grace. I continued with them until 2001. After leaving the group, they continued the ministry with many years of success.
In 2000, I was voted Drummer of the Year by Gospel Post Fan Awards. In 2001, shortly after leaving Southern Grace, the Lord led me to start Spradlen Promotions, a booking agency to promote Gospel Concerts in and around Florida. In that year, I began booking Gospel Concerts at Southside Baptist Church, in Frostproof, FL. The first Saturday of every month for the first ten years, we hosted a Gospel Sing there. After ten years, we felt led to change the sings to be held from October to April. This is a tradition that has continued, even until now. In addition to hosting Gospel Sings at Southside Baptist Church, Spradlen Promotions has also continued to book and promote throughout Florida and the Southeast. Spradlen Promotions has booked and hosted local groups as well as many nationally known artists. Along with hosting and promoting Gospel Sings, God has led me to help various organizations such as, Cornerstone Hospice, The American Heart Association, The American Cancer Society, as well as Relay for Life. Spradlen Promotions has also assisted others in need by raising over a total of $42,000 combined for the organizations as well as individuals.
As God leads the future of Spradlen Promotions, I will continue with my music ministry locally as well as throughout the southeast. I look forward to seeing where he leads my path. It has been a privilege and honor to serve my local community as well as all of the churches throughout Florida as well as the southeast.
