GLENDON WILLIAMS / "THE FREEDOM HEIRS" & BIG OAK GOSPEL MUSIC BARN Freedom Baptist Church, first opened its doors and welcomed families and visitors from the Cumming, Georgia community on July 26, 1981. Glendon Williams, founder of Freedom Ministries and the "Freedom Heirs" gospel music group, later conceived the idea to bring a variety of gospel music groups together in one place, on a regular, weekly basis. This dream, through hard work and prayer, was finally realized on
September 7, 1993, as "Big Oak Gospel Music Barn" opened its doors to the public for the very first time. As Freedom Ministries, along with "Big Oak Gospel Music Barn" became more recognized by the gospel music community and industry, it became necessary to relocate to a larger location. The church, music barn, and "The Freedom Heirs" moved themselves to the beautiful North Georgia mountains of Dahlonega on April 11, 2004. "Big Oak" gospel music barn, and Freedom Ministries continue to host three different gospel music groups each Saturday night at 7:00pm. The following day`s church services are held at 5:00pm, with dinner being served after each Sunday service. Freedom Ministries also hosts our Annual 3-day singing events; which are held on the Memorial Day, and Labor Day holidays, as well as our Annual all-night-long New Year`s Eve singing. Through prayer, and with the ministry of music and song, Glendon Williams and the Freedom Heirs continue to lift up the Kingdom of God through song, music, praise and worship. The group has been together since 1982, and consist of: Glendon Williams, Jean Williams, and Jane Chadwick. The Freedom Heirs have made 10 albums over the span of the group`s life in gospel music, as well as numerous videos. They travel throughout the Southeast, taking bookings frm a variety of churches, and other areas. They are often seen regularly at various churches, festivals, and both public and private social events throughout Georgia and the Southeast. The group has also earned several music awards over the years. The Lord once again blessed Freedom Ministries by enabling us to begin "Freedom Ministries of Toccoa, Georgia". This brand new branch of Freedom Ministries is located in the beautiful foothills of the Northeast Georgia mountains, and began on
May 4, 2006, with David Williams as pastor. Here, you will find Freedom Ministries hosting various gospel music groups every Friday night at 7:00pm, with the sermon which follows afterward. We continue to invite everyone to come and praise the Lord through song and worship at the original, "Big Oak Gospel Music Barn", located at 1067 Hwy 115 South, Dahlonega, GA. 30533 each Saturday night at 7:00pm, and our Sunday church service at 5:00pm, each Sunday afternoon.
